About Me
My Story
My name is Callum Hotham, though I go by the artist name Calum.
I was born in 1996 in Bathurst, NSW, Australia, and have always been drawn to creativity and expression, even when I didn’t yet know where that would take me.
My Journey
At 21, after spending some time in the UK playing cricket, I made the move to Sydney to continue my sporting journey. Alongside cricket, I worked with a stone mason, recreating intricate old patterns and restoring architectural details — a job that unknowingly laid the foundations for the precision and patience I’d later bring to my art.
During my time in Sydney, I became captivated by the street art, graffiti, and large-scale murals that covered the city. The colours, energy, and storytelling on the walls around me sparked something that would soon change my path.
In 2021, during the COVID break, I decided to pick up a pencil and spray can and see what I could create. My first opportunity came when my local cricket club let me paint their change rooms — a moment that turned inspiration into action. That mural was the beginning of something much bigger.
From there, one wall led to another. I began painting commissions for friends, which quickly grew into a steady stream of work. Before long, I took the leap to become a full-time professional artist — and I haven’t looked back since.
Each piece I create is a reflection of where I have come from.
Combining craftsmanship, realism and storytelling to transform spaces into something meaningful.
Today, I’ve been fortunate to collaborate with organisations such as the NRL, Drink West, James Place Developments, and numerous schools across NSW.
My work has been featured at mural festivals in Sydney, Melbourne, and Western Sydney, as well as in countless private and commercial projects.

My practice begins with the layering of imagery to construct a visual narrative, resolving into a single large-scale mural composition.
Using graffiti-based transfer techniques, the work is translated onto wall or canvas, then developed through an intensive process of colour blending and line refinement to achieve intricate detail.

Each artwork is approached with the same level of care, professionalism, and artistic integrity, regardless of scale or setting. While these works require a significant investment of time, skill, and materials, they are created to the highest standard and executed with lasting quality in mind.
The result is a bespoke, enduring artwork that transforms a space and continues to add value long after its completion, making the investment both meaningful and worthwhile.
